SOPHIE’S MIRACLE-GIVING A SECOND CHANCE
Rehabilitation can often be an alternative to surgery. There was a day when injured dogs were put down. Today, a second chance is not just for people but for all animals as well. According to Pawsite marketing, there has been a great increase in the willingness of the American public, to adopt or care for handicapped animals that have illnesses or handicaps that in the past would have necessitated euthanasia.
Sophie is a 5-month-old German shepherd and so far has had a couple of weeks of physical therapy. According to her veterinarian at the California Animal Rehabilitation (CARE), she is learning to support her own weight and is beginning to walk. The video above shows the remarkable work that California Animal Rehabilitation is doing with Sophie and the video of her learning to walk makes you tearful and hopeful simultaneously.
The cyst pressing on top of her spinal cord on C1 and C2 was causing spinal cord injury atrophy to this awesome puppy. She is being helped with acupuncture, physical therapy and aqua therapy and she is possibly going to have surgery in the future to remove the cyst says her veterinarian at Cal. Animal Rehab.
