Thailand‘s Dog Meat Trade. June 22, 2012

I would prefer to ignore this and just post a fun blog, but somehow  there’s nothing like a YouTube video, to remind you of what some dogs and animals are facing in countries like Thailand, China and Vietnam.Watching this video made me realize that there are many companies in the US and worldwide that could support dog rescue groups such as Soi Dog Rescue in Thailand, and help end this disgusting dog meat trade.Even starting up dog rescue groups in Thailand and other parts of Asia and trying to change a culture that has no laws against cruelty to animals would be a way to start.Teaching and educating the younger generations about dog care and  k9 love may take many years, but laws there most certainly do have to change. How many more dogs have to suffer in this way?

Victims of the dog meat trade are among the hundreds of dogs recently rescued. Unfortunately the illegal dog meat trade still continues across Asia and many dog rescuers are telling the same frightening story.Stray and domesticated dogs are being kidnapped, shipped and sold into the meat trade.

No country should have as many dogs caged, starved and transported for hours ,crammed into trucks only to get killed for their meat. For tens of millions of people this is disgusting and cruel and no matter the country’s custom, should be a trade that should be stopped .However ,all the dog rescue groups and shelters involved in putting an end to this cruel and heartless trade, need our help. They need the financial and political support to fight the gangs and businesses involved in this dog trade, and we  should put the word out.
Although many of us are aware of what is happening today through Twitter ,blogs and media ,there are still many people that do not comprehend that this is affecting vast numbers of dogs and not just a few strays.
Indeed , tackling this project to ending the dog meat trade is challenging globally ,because the relationships that man has with his dogs, is an ancient one of love and friendship ,and many people do not want to believe what is really going on.Yes, this dog meat trade is still happening.Last week another truckload of caged dogs was intercepted.

We’re beginning to hear about this on the news in the UK now. Horrifying.

horrific… and it’s been going on for decades — longer? i first heard about it as a child, growing up overseas (that would have been 1975), and it was a full-blown practice then.

there was recently a wonderful story of a chinese man blocking a *huge* truck, a semi, carrying dogs — there are activists over there working, but it’s an entrenched industry.

I can’t understand why there are people who can do this act to dogs/animals. There should be law for this and strict implementation to stop this cruelty. If people can’t show kindness to animals how can they be kind to people? I cannot finish watching this video because my heart bleeds for those dogs.
