History: The Griffon was used to hunt wolves until the 19th century when wolf populations declined.This breed is an ancestor to the Basset Fauve de Bretagne.The Griffon Fauve became rare but was revived in the 1940’s and once again in the 1980’s.
Description:A medium sized ,bony, rustic and muscular dog with a long head and black or born nose.With lips that cover the lower jaw and soft caramel eyes,the Griffon Fauve is splendid.He has a short neck and long ears and tail.The Griffon’s coat is short , rough and fawn colored,sometimes with a white spot on his chest.
Height: 19-22 inches
Temperament: The Griffon Fauve is an easy going and affectionate dog.This breed is popular and gets along with everyone.
Most Suitable Home: An active pet parent.Many of these dogs are kept in packs in kennels,yet they do well in homes with families.
Needs:Exercise, yard, positive training
